Product Overview
Selank (TP-7) was developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics as a modified analog of tuftsin, a natural peptide from immunoglobulin G. While tuftsin primarily modulates immune function, Selank extends these properties to include anxiolytic and nootropic benefits. Approved in Russia in 2009 for generalized anxiety disorder, it offers benzodiazepine-comparable anxiety reduction without amnesia, withdrawal, or dependence.
Mechanism of Action
Selank works through two primary mechanisms: (1) Cognition enhancement via modulation of noradrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine levels; (2) Anxiolytic effects via GABAergic activity — modulating GABA-A receptors to increase inhibitory action on neuronal excitability. It also inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes, providing natural pain relief, and regulates BDNF expression in the hippocampus.
