Oxytocin Acetate

CAS #: 50-56-6

Oxytocin Acetate is a synthetic form of the "love hormone" produced in the hypothalamus. It plays essential roles in reproduction, social bonding, and emotional regulation. Clinically used to induce labor and control postpartum bleeding, it also promotes trust, empathy, and stress resilience by lowering cortisol. Exhibits anti-inflammatory effects and may support metabolic health. Available as lyophilized powder for injection.

Product Overview

Oxytocin is a pleiotropic peptide hormone and neuropeptide produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. It stimulates uterine contractions during childbirth, facilitates milk ejection during breastfeeding, and is controlled by a positive feedback mechanism. Its synthesis depends on peptidylglycine alpha-amidating monooxygenase (PAM), which requires vitamin C as a cofactor.

Mechanism of Action

Oxytocin is released into the bloodstream in response to social interaction, physical touch, sexual activity, and childbirth. It stimulates uterine smooth muscle contractions and boosts prostaglandin production. In the central nervous system, it modulates social cognition, emotional processing, and stress response through specific oxytocin receptors.

Key Benefits

Social Bonding & Trust — Strengthens social bonds by enhancing trust, empathy, and connection. Supports romantic attachment, parental bonding, and group cohesion. May assist individuals with social challenges.

Stress Resilience & Mood Regulation — Reduces cortisol levels and promotes emotional safety. Studied for easing anxiety and depressive symptoms by modulating emotional pathways in the brain.

Recovery & Healing — Promotes anti-inflammatory effects for tissue repair. Supports sleep quality by lowering stress hormone activity. Enhances parasympathetic "rest-and-recover" state.

Metabolic Support — Early studies suggest improved insulin sensitivity for energy balance and blood sugar regulation. May influence fat metabolism and support cardiovascular health.
