KPV (Lys-Pro-Val)

CAS #: 67727-97-3

KPV is a tripeptide (lysine-proline-valine) derived from the C-terminal fragment of alpha-MSH. It delivers targeted anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects without the hormonal side effects of its parent molecule. Its primary mechanism involves NF-κB pathway inhibition, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. Valuable for gut health (IBD), skin repair, and immune modulation. Available as lyophilized powder with ≥98% purity.

Product Overview

KPV retains the anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties of alpha-MSH without triggering melanogenesis or other broad hormonal effects. It is transported by the PepT1 di-/tripeptide transporter, enabling effective local action on intestinal epithelium and resident immune cells when administered orally. This makes it particularly valuable for gastrointestinal and dermatological applications.

Mechanism of Action

KPV suppresses NF-κB activation (a master regulator of inflammation), reducing expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines including TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. It promotes epithelial repair and mucosal healing, reduces neutrophil infiltration, and modulates immune signaling downstream of melanocortin pathways. Uptake via PepT1 transporters enables targeted action on intestinal cells.

Key Benefits

Anti-Inflammatory Action — Suppresses NF-κB activation and reduces local and systemic inflammation in preclinical models of colitis, airway inflammation, and brain injury. Core mechanism for gut healing and inflammatory condition management.

Mucosal & Tissue Healing — Promotes mucosal healing in ulcerative colitis models and accelerates skin repair in wound models. Supports gut lining integrity for IBD and related conditions.

Antimicrobial Properties — Exhibits antimicrobial activity against certain pathogens, making topical KPV beneficial for inflammatory skin conditions with microbial components such as eczema, psoriasis, and acne.

Clean Anti-Inflammatory Profile — Retains anti-inflammatory benefits without the melanotropic (pigment/hormonal) effects of full-length alpha-MSH, offering a targeted therapeutic approach.
