Cerebrolysin (developmental code FPF-1070) is an enzymatically-treated peptide preparation from pig brain containing brain-derived neurotrophic factor, glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor, and ciliary neurotrophic factor. It crosses the blood-brain barrier, and its biological effects mirror those of endogenous neurotrophic factors. It is used clinically in dozens of Eurasian countries for acute and chronic central nervous system disorders.

Mechanism of Action

Cerebrolysin induces neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, and neuroprotection by modulating two key signaling pathways: the Neurotrophic Factor (NTF) Pathway for maintaining and restoring neuronal networks, and the Sonic Hedgehog (Shh) Signaling Pathway for brain organization and structure.
